Like I said last week, I’m celebrating — and I’m celebrating the whole week. Which is odd for me because I’ve historically never wanted to celebrate my birthday, would even shy away when people would call it my birthday (it was transformed into “Jennifer Day” at work) and yes I still get incredibly nervous / shaky / embarrassed and even cry when people sing Happy Birthday. I know, odd quirk of mine, BUT this year I’m trying out this whole celebration thing, and figured if I’m gonna do it…….do it up big and all week long……..SO…………here we go…………..
Since I’m new at this “let’s publicly go all out for my birthday” situation I decided I’d start the week off with a great friend, one of my loving Bigs, awesome inspirer and just all around cool kid to know – Casey from A Five Leaf Clover.
She actually lives just down the street from me so yesterday I hopped in the car and drove to Savannah, Georgia for the night. Road Trips are my favorite — absolutely adore Road Trips — and as always I did a lot of thinkin’, a lil singin’ and quite a bit of laughin’ along the way. I have a pretty good musical selection to choose from, but Sugarland is one of my favorite bands to listen to while driving down an open road.
I love all of their songs, but one stuck out to me on this trip. I’ve decided it will be Theme Song #1 for my 26th year of living. (notice I gave it a number-my life is a walking sound track) The song is Settlin. I caught myself smiling and laughing non-stop whenever it would come on and I’d keep playing it on repeat over and over. It’s jam packed with great lyrics but a few in particular happen to make me sing a little louder:
It’s my life..so it’s mine to make..I ain’t Settlin..for just gettin by.
Find what it means to be The Girl….who changed her mind and changed the world. I ain’t Settlin’….

Not a bad frame of mind to start out this whole week long B-Day celebration, huh? You know, this whole celebration thing might not be so bad….and to think, the week is only just beginning…
besos, Jennie B.
