Not many people feel comfortable talking about domestic violence, but it’s real and it’s out there – right now – right at this very moment. What would you do if you knew there was a way you could help?
My Sister’s House, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that provides services, programs and resources to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse. It’s the only shelter-based program serving domestic violence victims in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.
And here’s where you com in – with just $5.00. A program which began yesterday, May 5th,
$5 in 5 Days
is working to raise $10,000 in 5 days. Don’t think that donating just $5 would make a difference? Did you know that just $5 can fill a prescription or buy 5 jars of baby food for a victim? Or even $15 will purchase a week’s worth of bus fares so that a victim can get too and from work. Just $50 covers the water deposit for a new apartment to help victims start over again. It’s amazing how much $5 can do.
Here’s your chance to help a Sister out. How often do you spend $5 on regular, everyday things (i.e. that daily trip to the coffee shop)? Why not use that $5 to help empower victims of domestic abuse rise above and take back control of their lives? It all starts with just $5.00.
