I’m posting the exact same song I posted last year on Ash Wednesday. Why? Because I love this song. I love the artist. I love the sounds, the soul, the sway. I love the New Orleans feel it has. I love the message. I love the litany. I love the lenten season. I love it all. Catchin’ my drift on this one?

And besides … who doesn’t like a little  Dr. John in their play list? Enjoy!

I had a completely different song picked out for this week, and I thought it was a really great one, and then this morning I decided to go back and visit one of my all-time favorite Music Snacks. So yes, this week is the first ever [Repeat], but I hope you enjoy it still.

There’s two main reasons, other than this song rocks, that I went for the repeat. Both equally and very important, and maybe even more so since they happened nearly one right after the other.

Reason 1: This song came on my play list Monday morning when I was out doing my power walk. I’m not sure what came over me, but the next thing I knew, I was in full sprint through my neighborhood. For the entire song. It felt amazing. (Yes, I was quite out of breath but it was a pretty awesome moment, like Rocky throwing his fists in the air after making it to the top of the art museum steps, kind of moment.)

Reason 2: I’ve been going through a few personal ups & downs lately and, finally, verbally exploded all my worries, etc., on a friend last night during happy hour. Of course I momentarily felt worse for the word vomit now covering the floor beneath our seats, but sometimes …. you just need to get it all out of your head …. and be reminded of all the joys surrounding you …. of all those soon to come ….. and to just truly laugh …. because if the Dog Days aren’t over just yet, they will be. Soon.

So sit back [or get ready to jump around] and bask in the gloriousness that is:

Sunday afternoon I dropped in on my dear friend Jen to sit and have us a chatter. I hadn’t seen Jen in a few months and still had yet to visit her house on Sully’s, so it was high time for me to stop on by. It’s such an amazing Island House. After taking the tour, we sat out on the screened-in porch for a few hours catching up.

You see, Jen and I are in two completely different places in our lives. I’m in my late 20′s, she’s in her early 40′s. I’m still a bit shy and unsure, and she can work a room like no one I’ve ever seen before. I’m on my first round of bumps and bruises and she’s learned the art of covering the scars before they show.

Regardless we found ourselves in similar situations. We’re both going through a re-building phase. A reality check of sorts. A - time to step outside of the body, examine things a bit, and make some changes – in order to put the Jen back in our Jennifer(s). [ I'll tell you more about my part in this in a post down the road. ] It was truly amazing to put everything out on the table and hear her do the same. In a matter of the few months since we last saw each other, quite a bit has indeed changed and we’re both enthusiastically moving forward in our new pursuits to rebuild and revitalize.

Later that afternoon I stumbled across a mixed tape [cd] from a few years back titled “One for the Road”. I couldn’t help popping it in my car and going back out for a Sunday stroll around the Lowcountry. I was thinking over my conversation earlier that afternoon when this song came on. I almost swerved off the road.

I don’t know why, but at that moment – all was absolutely perfect and right in the world.

Don’t worry, even if things end up a bit too heavy, we’ll all Float On, all right.

“I was just kind of fed up with how bad shit had been going, and how dark everything was, with bad news coming from everywhere. ….. I just want to feel good for a day.”

Did you know that? Good things happen on Tuesdays. Because they do. They really, really do.

The Good things happen on Tuesdays phenomenon, which is quickly catching on, was first started by none other than my fabulous Sista Sista, Jessica. Crazy, right?! Yes. She started a phenomenon and she didn’t even know it.

I can’t quite remember when she first started telling me Good things happen on Tuesdays – it must have been at least a year ago – but I soon caught myself repeating it to everyone in person [and online!]. When they would look at me quizzically, I would reply…”well, that’s what my Sister says.

And then I started to believe. Why not? Tuesdays hadn’t really been all that special before, why not believe that good things are destined to happen on this previously not so special day. Of course good things are happening every day, but there’s something – encouraging – about thinking Good things happen on Tuesdays. I’ve noticed that not all of my Good Things have been obvious Good Things. Some have been a bit understated, but looking back I see those understated situations were Good Things in disguise.

Then it started to happen. People started saying it back to me. People who don’t even know my Sister were quoting her and adding this extra touch of Good Things to their Tuesdays. [ no joke - "well, Jennie's sister Jessica says Good things happen on Tuesdays, so here we go!" - is a legit quote, repeated to me last Tuesday afternoon. ] Thus the ripple effect has begun and as my Sister’s Good things happen on Tuesdays travels across country, I hope it sparks many a wonderful {Good Things} to happen to each and every one of you.

I am now an official believer and will forever hold it to be true that: Good things [really do] happen on Tuesdays. I don’t care what anybody has to say about that, I’m stickin to it. And I have my fabulous Sista Sista to thank!

Wicked crazy. I love it. And guess what …. it’s Tuesday ;)
