The train’s pulling in to Inspiration Station to help get you through the week.

*Ok was that too cheesy? Did I cross the line a bit? Maybe just a little? Because actually I just got stuck in the first of school clutter and ended up being 15 minutes late for work, even though I’d left my house 20 minutes early, realized 3/4ths way to the office that the text I thought I’d sent Sara about my Starbucks order was still typed out yet not sent and it was already to late to push send as she’d be at the office already. And I spilled my delightful coke-a-cola all over my pants getting in my car, too. So it’s one of those mornings and by good golly graciousness I need that train to chug on in & help get me today back on track.

As always, I’m draggin you along for the ride, too.

    • I’m late to the boat but just last week I was introduced to Lonny Magazine via multiple posts in my google reader. Seriously – talk about stacked house of visual inspiration! Near sensory over load, in a fabulous way, while flipping through the virtual pages. An interior decorator’s dream – or a dream of someone who wouldn’t mind being an interior decorator might be a better way to put it. Here are some of my favorite pages:

Number 20: For just one day, imagine everyone’s intentions are good because most people’s are.

    • Tiffany & Co. has put together the most magnificent necklace in all the land. {ok so it would be a bit better if Rubies were involved but it does the trick in a sinch} Meet The Tiffany Majestic.  Hello Lover…..

    • This post by sfgirlbybay is one of my favorites that I’ve seen in quite some time. Take a few minutes and enjoy a few images from {professor plum in the drawing room.} *Granted I do love nearly anything purple, this was a match made in heaven for me!

Well I think that about does it for this train. I’m definitely feeling a little more on top of my game. Think I’ve gathered up enough of my marbles, and maybe even climbed back up on my rocker.

Thanks to you for letting me go a bit cheese-ball on you this morning. But then again, maybe we could all use a little more cheesy in our lives………

I’ve been waiting for just the right moment to send out the Mah-velous Magnolia badge to this very special person – my dear friend, my Writing Yoda and someone who knows what it’s like to having dancing monkeys in your head – the talented and inspiring, Angie Mizzell.

I met with Angie this past Saturday morning at my favorite coffee shop on Sullivan’s Island for a little coffee chatter. I always look forward to meeting up with her because good things always come out of our meetings. I was exceptionally interested in hearing how her book is progressing. It’s always fascinating getting together with fellow writers and learning their inspirations, techniques for writing, working through questions and situations which may seem trivial to others but are key to us in the writing world. The whole situation in itself in entirely refreshing, reassuring and encouraging.

I walked away from the coffee shop with a great many images of future unfolded. I won’t give away too many of those images just yet, but I will say – the prevailing image so vividly clear is one day soon, I will look over at my night stand where my most cherished books are displayed and see her Memoirs (ahem — signed, of course!) sitting next to my own Novels and laugh a little as I think back….and remember when.

Go visit Angie over at her site, say hello and make sure to subscribe. Inspiration is waiting right around the corner.

AngieMizell.com…stories about life, love and leaps of faith

Take a look back at the always changing journey of Angie and I through blog posts:

The first time I really believed I was a writer: Living on Dreams & Spaghettios
I’d never been a guest blogger before:
    Oh Angie!
The documented first time we met in real life:
    aspiring author’s candy shop
When the tables were turned and she guest posted for me:
    The Road to Home
Angie’s  perfect choice for Mid-Week Music Snack:
    strength, courage and wisdom
I received my first blog award!
    sunshine award :)
The result from our first coffee chatter:
    My Big Opera Moment
    And a little
Celebration for a job well done.

It’s been quite the journey indeed and it’s only just beginning. Ellen, keep an eye out .. we’ll be knocking on your door soon!

    i ♥ a good summer storm.

:: they spring up in mid-afternoon & last from 2 minutes to 2 hours. there’s just something about summer storms. my only hope is that 1 day instead of watching them from my office building and dreaming, i’ll be watching them in a gorgeous outdoor patio room {like the ones below} sipping a sweet summer time drink, listening to billie holiday, writing letters to dear diary or reading myself away. ::

I think every girl (and any decent guy) knows a thing or two about the world of fashion.  Even if it’s the basic color wheel, there’s a bit of a Fashion Hat sitting in all of our closets. I think it all started with dressing Barbie (and making sure GI Joe still looked good enough to catch Barbie’s eye for you fellas reading this).  Regardless of how it started, here’s your chance to play Barbie dress up again, in a more grown-up sort of way of course.

A month ago my friend Shauna of Mackenzie Image Consulting tapped me into a little secret: Couturious. And let me tell you – this little secret of her’s has turned into a bit of an addiction for me. I’ve literally caught myself on the site for hours creating outfits, looking through and hearting other outfits, coming up with certain things to wear for certain places. I had forgotten how much fun putting on your Fashion Hat and playing Stylist can be!

You can pick the model (I’m a bit partial to the red head, go figure), the back drop, the shoes, the clothes, the bags, the accessories – all of it.  So addicting and so much fun.  As you can see, I’m not the most high powered fashion kind of gal but I do love having that kind of virtual closet at my disposal.

So when you have a little spare time, put on your Fashion Hat, set up an account at Couturious.com (add me! TheSSMOnline) and give your inner stylist a work out session.  But you might want to set an alarm or wait till you get home, I’d hate for you to get carried away in the middle of the day…..
