    Hellooooooooooooooooooooo! After a brief sabbatical, I’m baaaaaaack! I’ll pause for your sigh of relief.

    Kidding. I wasn’t off searching the Pyramids, or wandering aimlessly the streets of Morraco, or even tucked away in the corners of India (all places that happily sit on my waiting to be visited list). I was here, in this city by the sea, getting a few matters in order. That’s it. That’s all I got. Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

    A friend first told me about this song over a year ago. I’ve had it in reserve, but it’s not till lately I’ve started listening to it a bit more. I find this song to be absolutely beautiful. The melody, the words, the video – you know I am in awe of the dancing, just perfectly matched – the whole package. You may think I’m crazy for saying this, but it’s one of my favorite songs to run too lately. Whether I’m running with the waves of the Atlantic crashed by my side after work or in the wee hours of the early morning, just before dawn breaks, through the coastal marshes, this song just makes me connect. Connect with a past, with a present, with a fate avoided, with lessons learned.

    It’s just one of those really great songs.

    Christina Perry – Jar of Hearts

    I could watch the video on repeat just for the dancing. Simply beautiful and amazing.

    What I wouldn’t give for just a few hours in an empty studio and my old cd player. Truly one of the greatest releases to ever experience. There’s freedom in that kind of connection. The kind of freedom no one can give you but yourself.

    Until I find that abandoned studio, I’m grateful for the glimpses of that freedom I catch out running.

    I hope you’re having a gorgeous week.

    Last Sunday morning I downloaded the entire soundtrack to The Holiday on my phone. It is a full selection of musical scores by the genius that is Hans Zimmer. I’ll admit, I’ve had it playing in the background (mixed with the soundtrack of Midnight in Paris) for the past 36 hours, straight. Getting ready in the morning? Hans is by my side. Lunch time in the hospital cafeteria? Zimmer on the playlist. I wake up with his scores in my head and silently (ok sometimes, not so silently) hum the melodies to myself through out the day. I meant to get this one up and posted last night, but that just didn’t happen. Either way, here is this week’s Music Snack – a Hans Zimmer favorite of mine from The Holiday:

    Gumption from The Holiday by Hans Zimmer

    Now doesn’t that just put you in a good mood? For no reason other than it’s just a beautiful movie score? I think so too.

    Sonnet 18

    Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
    Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
    Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
    And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
    Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
    And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
    And every fair from fair sometime declines,
    By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
    But thy eternal summer shall not fade
    Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
    Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
    When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
    So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
    So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

    - William Shakespeare
