I first came across today’s Mah-velous Magnolia last fall through a mutual blogging friend. Immediately I found myself pouring over her site and her blog, dreaming of cool, breezy evenings spent on the Spanish Riveria, jewels sparkling in the moonlight, sipping champagne, and basking in life’s simplest luxuries.  Now doesn’t that sound absolutely fabulous?!

Mah-velous MagnoliaI’m thrilled to send the badge across the Atlantic Ocean to Vanessa, the brilliance behind Luxuria Jewellery, the heart who writes Decadence for Divas, and not to mention a fellow Sassy Steel Magnolia!

I love her story of how she started Luxuria, going from a Criminal Psychologist in the UK to living in Spain and extending affordable glamour to all through her web site. [Stories like that get me every time. Such a fan!] Her mission to bring the art of accessorizing, so dearly loved by Spanish women, to your front door, without making you skip a car payment to do so, is one any female can certainly appreciate! Below are a few pieces I have my eye on and are definitely saving to make my next rainy day a shiny one.

[Obviously my heart lies with the pink gold / gold and amethyst rings - major jewellery crush.]

On Vanessa’s blog, you’ll see posts that are both inspirational and entertaining. While you never know what you’re going to find there – you can rest assured you won’t want to miss a single one. From an important life lesson taught to by her dog, Lola, to a gathering of the most interesting facts on [this girl's] drink of all drinks, champagne, I never find myself lacking after reading one of her blog posts. [ another favourite post of mine: What Colour Are You? ] A staple in my blog reader, I’m always excited to see what she will come up with next and in case you can’t tell, it’s never a disappointment.

Through the vast cyber world Vanessa has grown to be a dear friend of The Sassy Steel Magnolia, often unknowingly lending priceless insights and encouragement along the way. It’s one of the greatest things about the World Wide Web, connecting with those you might not have otherwise crossed paths. While it may be a few years before I can make my way over to the Spanish Riviera myself, I can always rely on Vanessa, Luxuria, and Decadence for Divas to take me there in spirit.

To learn more about Vanessa, visit her Web site, blog, facebook, or twitter.

    Mah-velous Magnolia

I usually try to make 1 to 2 Happy Hours with my girls a week. This past week was a rarity for me – I made 3. All three with different groups of amazing girlfriends, all three happy hour conversations uniquely fabulous, and all three left me feeling absolutely humbled by the incredible amount of love, support and laughter surrounding each and every one of them.

And so this week’s mah-velous magnolia badge goes out to the handful of hours that help make the work week bearable. The time when you can let your hair down on a week day and laugh your troubles away with good friends and good bubbles. Indeed, this badge goes out those special hours …… and the friends who put the happy in them.

I’ll raise my glass to that any day.

    Cheers!

Mah-velous Magnolia I stumbled upon a true *gem* of a site a few weeks ago and have spent hours going through all the images, thinking of creative ways to use them.

Some of you may be well acquainted with this site, and some may be first timers, but I think we can all agree this is a woman worth mentioning.

    The Graphics Fairy

Karen, The Graphics [and Background] Fairy, runs a booth at an antiques mall, has always held a strong love for all things older, and [to the world's benefit!] enjoys shopping for and retouching paper items and graphics to share on her site.

I’ve been drawn to old things since I was a child in the 1960s. I used to spend many weekends at my grandparents house, and my grandmother was a very enthusiastic collector of all things old. I would spend many hours, looking through her china cabinet, dresser drawers, sewing cabinet etc. and she would explain the history behind the pieces to me.

    - Karen, The Graphics Fairy

The images she posts are free to use for craft projects, DIY, scrapbooking, design, anything really – there’s endless possibilities on how to use the images. *She has a great list of running craft projects if you need a little inspiration to get you started. There’s a ton of images, but don’t get overwhelmed. They’re all well categorized and easy to search through the pages.

I used this as a Gift Tag for a Birthday Present.

Last night I hosted a Baby Shower for a work colleague and wanted to have each person attending write a few Words of Wisdom to help Miss Baby Dayla on her journey in life. I wanted it have it be something a little different, not your average scrap book or journal, so I went to The Graphics Fairy for inspiration.  I ended up printing the images below, cutting them out, and on the backs of the images we all wrote our letters to Baby Dayla.

It turned out much better than I had planned & the mom-to-be loved the idea. The cards were a perfect keep-sake and she can pull them out at any time. *Thanks, Graphics Fairy, for this one!

So take a break from what you’re doing and head on over to The Graphics Fairy and start perusing her graphics file. You just might be inspired to get a little crafty and creative yourself this weekend.

Waiting for the perfect post for this image, but couldn’t help and throw it in this one.
